OpenAI has rolled out a major upgrade to its ChatGPT voice feature, enabling direct access to external tools including email, calendars, and Slack. According to a report by The Decoder, the globally available feature now runs on advanced models and allows users to execute daily administrative tasks entirely by voice.
Demonstrations of the updated voice system show users managing calendar events, sending emails, and identifying duplicate charges within financial applications. The functionality also extends to ChatGPT Work on both web and mobile platforms, letting users generate documents, spreadsheets, and presentations through spoken commands.
OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman has previously referenced the film Her as a guiding vision for the company’s voice interfaces.
