NFT Project Targets Cold War Nuclear Bunker
A Solana-based non-fungible token project is attempting to acquire a physical Cold War nuclear bunker in England through a decentralized crowdfunding campaign. Bitcoinist reports that the creators of the Meatbags collection, a project called Dead Bruv, plan to mint 100,000 tokens to finance the real estate purchase.
According to the project team, the token minting begins on April 21 with prices starting at 14 dollars per token. Existing holders of Meatbags NFTs will receive 10,000 tokens via an airdrop, while the remaining 90,000 tokens will be offered for public sale.
The target property is a 1.4-acre site in Rutland, England, featuring a nuclear monitoring post built in 1960 and deactivated in 1968. The property was listed by SDL Property Auctions with a guide price of 650,000 pounds, equivalent to roughly 862,257 dollars, with an auction date set for April 24. Auction listings indicate that the structure already holds the necessary permissions for residential conversion.
If the acquisition succeeds, token holders will form a decentralized autonomous organization known as the Billionaire Bunker Club. This community-governed entity will vote on how to utilize the real estate. Proposed concepts from the project community include a members-only survival resort or an Airbnb property.
Robert, the pseudonymous founder of Dead Bruv, stated that the initiative evolved from an initial joke into an effort to restore novelty to the NFT sector. Bitcoinist notes that this venture represents an intersection of virtual token ownership and physical property acquisition within the blockchain community.
