Robinhood Adds $25M in Bitcoin to Balance Sheet

Fintech and blockchain company Robinhood has added $25 million in Bitcoin to its balance sheet, according to a report by AMBCrypto. This transaction marks the first time the firm has purchased a separate stash of cryptocurrency outside of user funds. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager at Robinhood, stated that the company believes in the future of crypto and views the acquisition as a strategic step toward asset diversification.

With this purchase, Robinhood joins the growing corporate treasury trend, becoming the 199th public company to hold Bitcoin. Public companies collectively hold roughly 1.279 million Bitcoin, valued at approximately $105 billion at current market prices, placing them just behind investment funds and exchange traded funds. It remains undetermined whether Robinhood will pursue an aggressive acquisition strategy or maintain a moderate approach going forward.

AMBCrypto notes that the corporate Bitcoin allocation coincides with broader crypto expansions at the firm. Robinhood has scaled its prediction markets, launched tokenized securities and perpetual futures, and introduced its own Ethereum Layer 2 network, Robinhood Chain, which recently crossed $1 billion in total value locked. Wall Street analysts maintain a positive consensus on Robinhood stock, with firms like Barclays and Bank of America issuing bullish targets ranging from $132 to $156.
