OpenAI Reports $1B Ad Run Rate
OpenAI announced that its advertising business has reached an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion, according to a report by The Decoder. The milestone comes as the company prepares for a major public offering while facing pressure to justify its valuation.
The advertising initiative, which began testing in the United States in February, has expanded to more than 40 countries. OpenAI also launched a self-serve advertising option in Europe, India, the Middle East, and North Africa. Advertisements are currently displayed to free users and Go subscribers.
The company stated that the advertisements are clearly labeled and do not influence the platform’s answers. According to OpenAI, advertisers are not granted access to private user conversations. The advertising stream joins existing revenue sources including corporate customers, subscription tiers, and usage-based application programming interfaces.
